About this scholarship
Awarded to a first-year or returning Aboriginal student in full-time undergraduate studies at the University of Prince Edward Island who is positively and actively involved with Aboriginal students on campus and/or in the community, has a good academic record that reflects perseverance, and demonstrates leadership.
The award is valued at $1,000. Candidates submit a one-page essay on how they meet the criteria, a resume, and one letter of reference to the Scholarship and Awards Office.
Established by Elise Hynes in memory of her late husband, J. Elmer Hynes, to recognize his commitment to the advancement of Aboriginal people and to honour UPEI students who distinguish themselves through leadership, perseverance, and academic accomplishment.
