About this scholarship
The Ish Smith Overcomer Scholarship awards fifteen hundred to three thousand dollars annually to traditional freshmen and transfer students at Greenville University who have shown exceptional ability to overcome adversity and challenges in their lives. Named for former coach and president Robert Ish Smith, the scholarship recognizes determination, grit, and perseverance rather than test scores or GPA. Freshmen and transfer recipients must live on campus. The scholarship renews for up to four years. After acceptance, an admissions counselor invites students to complete the Ish Smith Overcomer Scholarship application. Degree-completion students are also eligible to apply for this award.
