About this scholarship
Canadian and U.S. students with direct ties to the Pacific halibut fishery who are pursuing post-secondary education at a university, technical college, or similar program may apply for the International Pacific Halibut Commission Merit Scholarship.
One new scholarship of $4,000 per year is awarded every two years. It renews annually for up to four years of undergraduate study with satisfactory academic performance.
Submit transcripts, a statement of career goals, three letters of recommendation, and other materials listed in the online application guidelines.
The IPHC established the fund to support further education for students connected to the Pacific halibut industry. A committee of industry and Commission representatives selects recipients based on academic qualifications, career goals, and commitment to the fishery.
