Illinois Veteran Grant Program

Illinois residents who served at least one year of honorable federal active-duty service, served in a foreign country during hostilities and were honorably discharged, or are honorably serving may apply once through ISAC for the Illinois Veteran Grant.

IVG covers eligible tuition and mandatory fees at Illinois public colleges and community colleges for up to four academic years of full-time enrollment. Award amounts vary based on remaining eligible costs.

As an entitlement program, eligible recipients receive their awards regardless of annual state appropriations. Illinois public two- and four-year colleges must waive any eligible tuition and fees not covered by state funding.
