Ibn Battuta Award for Field Research

UBC Vancouver graduate students in any field who wish to conduct field research in designated Muslim-majority countries (including Afghanistan, Algeria, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Pakistan, Turkey, and others listed by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies) may apply through the Spring Graduate Awards competition. Candidates need a minimum overall GPA of 80% in their last two years of study and must have completed at least one course in field research methods or demonstrate equivalent knowledge.

A $3,000 travel award is offered.

The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
