Gilder Lehrman Short-Term Research Fellowships

Doctoral candidates, college and university faculty at any rank, and independent scholars in American history (including international scholars) may apply for a Gilder Lehrman Short-Term Research Fellowship to conduct archival research in New York City.

The fellowship is $3,000. Applicants submit a 2 to 5 page project proposal, CV, and two scholarly recommendations online. Fellows complete research within one year and submit a 750 to 1,000 word essay.
