About this scholarship
Florida high school students in grades 9 through 12 at public, private, charter, virtual, or home-school programs may enter the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Farm to School Essay Contest.
Three winners receive tiered college scholarships of up to $3,000 for first place, along with additional prizes.
Write an original 500 to 800 word essay responding to one of three provided agriculture or nutrition topics. Include a short personal statement and submit via the online form. Essays must not include plagiarism or use of artificial intelligence.

- Submit ONE essay responding to ONE of the three prompts (student chooses); the essay must be 500-800 words (confirmed verbatim on the official rules page).
- Essay must be accompanied by a personal statement (per official rules Section 4).
- Eligibility: Florida legal residents in grades 9-12 (public, private, charter, virtual, or homeschooled).
- Entry form required: name, age, city, contact info, parent/legal guardian consent and contact info, school name, grade, county.
- One entry per contestant.
- Essays are screened for plagiarism and AI-generated content before judging.
- 2025 entry window was October 1 - November 17, 2025 (now closed); contest recurs annually.
- Prizes: 1st $3,000, 2nd $2,000, 3rd $1,000.
- Only one entry per contestant.
- Essays must not contain plagiarism or artificial-intelligence-generated content.
