New incoming freshmen and community college transfer students starting their first semester in Mining Engineering at the University of Utah may apply for the Explore More Scholarship. Applicants need at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and strong math, physics, and chemistry background.
This one-time award provides $10,000, paid $5,000 per semester. After one year with a 3.4 or higher GPA, recipients may transition to the Browning Scholarship. Up to four awards are available. Admission to the university and declaring Mining Engineering are required.
