The graduating student in UBC's Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program with the highest overall academic standing in morphological sciences courses (Pathology 304, 305, and 404) receives this prize.

Janet Reid endowed the prize in memory of her husband, Professor Philip E. Reid, who coordinated the B.M.L.Sc. program from 1980 to 1994, and his mother, Eugenie Phyllis Reid.
