Sophomores at accredited U.S. colleges with a minimum 3.0 GPA majoring in fields that support NOAA's mission, including STEM and social sciences, may apply. Up to 118 scholars receive up to $9,500 per academic year for two years of full-time study, plus a paid 10-week NOAA summer internship between award years with a $700 weekly stipend.
Submit the Hollings Scholarship application by January 31. Selected scholars attend a NOAA orientation and Science and Education Symposium, complete the summer internship at a NOAA facility, and present research findings. Community college students planning to transfer to a four-year program and third-year students in five-year programs are also eligible.
