About this scholarship
Emergency bursaries at Osgoode Hall Law School are available to students enrolled in the JD program and paying fees to Osgoode, including students on approved Osgoode/York international exchange programs and Letter of Permission students paying Osgoode tuition. Students in joint and combined programs are eligible in years when they pay fees to Osgoode. Students on a leave of absence, who have not yet started the JD program, or who have graduated are not eligible.
Emergency bursaries are one-time, non-repayable awards for exceptional one-time costs from unanticipated situations, and are a support of last resort when an emergency loan would be clearly inappropriate. Examples include homelessness due to fire or eviction, or loss of essential personal belongings due to theft. The maximum is $1,000, though amounts are generally substantially lower.
Email Osgoode's Office of Student Financial Services with a statement of request (type of support, amount, reason, and resources already exhausted) and supporting documentation such as bank statements, line of credit details or denial, and government funding information. Students are generally asked to meet with Student Financial Services or the Associate/Assistant Dean, Students.
