Outstanding international students entering UBC Vancouver directly from secondary school or transferring from another post-secondary institution to any undergraduate program may be nominated for this merit-based entrance award. Leadership, community service, and recognized extracurricular achievement are considered alongside academic merit.
The award is $15,000 from an endowment established by Dr. Edwin S.H. Leong, LLD, along with matching funds from UBC. It is not renewable and is not dependent on final grades. No separate application is required; the International Student Initiative makes recommendations.
Edwin Leong (B.Sc. 1973) founded the Tai Hung Fai Group property development company in 1977.
