About this scholarship

UBC Vancouver graduate students in any branch of organic chemistry (including synthetic, bioorganic, organometallic, or materials) who demonstrate academic excellence, experimental skill, and dedication through service and leadership may be considered.

The award is worth $2,100.

Recommendations are made by the Department of Chemistry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

The endowment was established in memory of Dr. Edward Piers, who mentored more than 90 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows during more than forty years on campus and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1989.
