About this scholarship
Open to undergraduate and graduate students in the UBC Vancouver Department of Linguistics who have achieved good academic standing and demonstrated volunteerism. Financial need may be considered.
The award is $2,000, offered annually by alumni, faculty, students, and staff in honour of Edna Dharmaratne. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Linguistics; for graduate students, selection is in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
Edna Dharmaratne served as Administrator of the Department of Linguistics from 1997 to 2017 and was admired for her strength of character and generosity.
