Returning student trainers in the Athletics Student Trainer Program at UBC Vancouver are eligible for these awards, funded at $5,000 annually. Candidates have completed at least one year as a student trainer and demonstrate commitment to their role and exceptional delivery of therapy services and support to a UBC varsity athletics team. The top trainer receives $2,000, and the second and third best trainers each receive $1,500. Preference is given to students who intend to pursue graduate studies in sport science or sport medicine.
There is no student application; the awards are made on the recommendation of the UBC Athletics Sport Science and Sport Medicine Team. The awards are made available through a gift from Dr. Robert McCormack.
