About this scholarship
Students entering the Bachelor of Commerce program at UBC Vancouver who hold citizenship from a country in Africa are eligible for this entrance award. Awards totalling $10,000 are made available annually through a gift from Dr. John Bell (B.Com. 1962, LL.D. 1998), with each award ordinarily valued at $5,000.
There is no separate application. The awards are made on the recommendation of the UBC Sauder School of Business.
Dr. Bell, a former Canadian diplomat and business leader, spent over 30 years representing Canada abroad, including as Canadian High Commissioner to Malaysia and Chief Federal Negotiator for BC Treaty Negotiations.
