Open to an outstanding Ph.D. student in Art History at UBC Vancouver who has achieved candidacy.
The scholarship provides $10,000 annually through a gift from the Y. P. Heung Foundation in memory of Dr. James Caswell (1937-2016), a member of the White Earth band of the Minnesota Chippewa who joined UBC in 1971 and focused on Chinese art, early Buddhist sculpture, and early Chinese bronzes and paintings.
Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
