Dr. J. David Barrett Memorial Scholarship in Wood Science

An outstanding graduate student in the UBC Faculty of Forestry whose area of study is wood science may be considered for this scholarship. Preference goes to students with a demonstrated interest in timber engineering and/or wood mechanics.

The award is $3,000, endowed in memory of Dr. John David Barrett. It is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Dr. Barrett graduated from UBC in 1965 and completed his PhD in Wood Science at UC Berkeley. He joined the Faculty of Forestry in 1984 and served as Head of the Department of Wood Science for 15 years.
