Members of the UBC Men's or Women's Rugby team at the Vancouver campus who are enrolled in a program in Medicine, Engineering or Science are eligible for this award. Two awards of $2,500 each are made available annually through a gift from Dr. Hugh Greenwood, with one award available per team. Subject to continued athletic performance, the award is renewed for a second year of study.
There is no separate application. Recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Athletics Awards Committee.
Professor Emeritus Dr. Greenwood (B.A.Sc. 1954, M.A.Sc. 1956, P.Eng., Ph.D., F.R.S.C.) was a member of the UBC Men's Rugby team from 1949 to 1954.
