The Dr. Barry D. Friedman Scholarship is the first endowed student scholarship for the UNG Department of Political Science and International Affairs, named for longtime professor and MPA program founder Dr. Barry Friedman. Undergraduate students majoring in political science, international affairs, or strategic and security studies who are enrolled full time at UNG may apply after completing at least nine credit hours of POLS-prefixed courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. Recipients receive $1,000 for the academic year, chosen by a committee appointed by the department head. Funds became available beginning spring 2024 through the UNG Foundation. Students apply through the department and ScholarshipUniverse during the annual scholarship cycle.
