Don Wehrung International Student Okanagan Award (Start Up)

Outstanding international undergraduate students from developing countries who have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances, and who would be unable to pursue post-secondary education without assistance, may be nominated for the Don Wehrung International Student Award as they enter UBC Okanagan directly from secondary school.

Awards totalling $37,000 are offered. The value of each award depends on the candidate's financial circumstances and program costs. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study or to degree completion, whichever is less, if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic standing, holds a valid Canadian study permit, and continues to demonstrate financial need.

Candidates are nominated by secondary schools or by international, community-based, or non-governmental organizations. Nomination packages are due November 15. Awards are made on the recommendation of a university selection committee with community input.
