Derek Norton Thunderbird Rugby Award

Current or incoming UBC Vancouver student-athletes who display exemplary leadership, strong character, and dedication to the sport of rugby are eligible for one or more awards ranging from a minimum of $500 each to the maximum allowable under athletic association regulations.

There is no student application; the awards are made on the recommendation of the head coaches of the men's and women's rugby teams, with review and approval by the Athletics Awards Committee.

The endowment was established by friends and business colleagues of Derek Norton in recognition of his contributions to the real estate financing sector and his support and passion for rugby in Canada.
