Denise Janet King Memorial Award in Nursing

Undergraduate students entering third year in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UBC Okanagan may be recommended for these awards. Preference is given to students who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism and leadership within their community, along with academic excellence and financial need.

Two $4,000 awards are available annually from gifts by friends, family, and colleagues in memory of Denise Janet King (née Stewart). The School of Nursing recommends recipients.

Denise volunteered at Kelowna General Hospital during high school, trained in nursing at Vancouver General Hospital, and worked in surgical, cardiac surgery intensive care, labour and delivery, and vaccine preventive disease nursing before retirement.
