A promising student studying opera in the Voice and Opera Division at the UBC Vancouver School of Music may be nominated.
The award is a $2,000 prize made available through the Vancouver Foundation by Dal Richards, O.C., O.B.C. (DLitt 2010) and Muriel Honey-Richards. Recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the School of Music; for graduate students, the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is consulted. There is no separate student application.
Dal Richards was a celebrated big band leader whose career in the music business spanned more than 80 years and who made major contributions to British Columbia's cultural life.
