About this scholarship
The CUNY Becas Scholarship Program, administered by the CUNY Institute of Mexican Studies, awards scholarships ranging from $4,800 to $6,330 to undergraduate and graduate CUNY students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and commitment to service in the Mexican immigrant community. Recipients complete internships of 15 hours per week for one semester or 10 hours per week throughout the academic year at an affiliated nonprofit institution. Applicants need not be of Mexican descent but must show a record of service in the Mexican immigrant community; immigration status is not considered. Required materials include an application form, transcript, personal statement, statement of financial need, and one letter of recommendation.
