Laurentian University students in Applied Media Studies or Documentary Filmmaking may win one of two CTV Broadcast Prizes of $750 each. The prize goes to a student group whose short film, presented at the English Department's student film festival "Début," is judged to have the greatest potential.

A jury selects the winning project during the festival. The award is sponsored by CTVglobemedia and recognizes achievement in film production.
