About this scholarship

The Contreras Leaders in Risk Program Scholarship at St. Mary's University grants $2,000 per semester for up to four semesters to students majoring in Finance and Risk Management who demonstrate excellence in risk and insurance. CLiR participants attend professional association meetings, RMI conferences, the Risk and Insurance Summit for Student Engagement, and a mentoring program with industry professionals while pursuing certifications or essay contests. Applicants must maintain Gamma Iota Sigma membership, a 3.0 GPA, and be at least three semesters from graduation. New participants apply near the end of spring semester with a résumé and essay. Students on full-tuition scholarships may participate in CLiR activities but are ineligible for the CLiR scholarship.
