Competitive Scholarship

Oregon artists and arts practitioners 18 or older who have been domiciled in Oregon for at least 12 months may apply for funding to pursue a specific, time-sensitive career opportunity. Applicants must not be enrolled in any degree-granting program and cannot have received COG funding in the past three cycles. Awards range from $500 to $2,000 to cover expenses tied to an invited opportunity such as an exhibition, residency, workshop, conference, or performance. Eligible costs include travel, materials, registration fees, childcare, and professional services directly related to the opportunity. Applications are due twice yearly: September for activities November through October of the following year, and February for activities May through April. Proof of invitation or peer review for the opportunity is required. The Oregon Arts Commission administers the Career Opportunity Grant to help artists participate in career-building opportunities without financial burden.

Locklin & Coleman, PLLC awards $1,500 to a United States citizen or permanent resident age 17 or older who is pursuing a career as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or mental-health specialist. Applicants must attend an accredited United States undergraduate or graduate program and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The public application requires an applicant-authored video response, an academic transcript, and proof of enrollment.

Kaiser Permanente awards one-time scholarships of $1,000 to $3,000 to eligible Southern California residents completing approved nursing education. Applicants may be in pre-licensure, graduate, doctoral, or affiliate-school nursing programs and must have completed an academic term plus a clinical nursing course with a clinical rotation by the deadline.

The NSHSS Poetry Scholarship awards two $2,000 scholarships to NSHSS members graduating from high school in 2026, 2027, 2028, or 2029. Applicants submit an original poem in any style, a brief artist statement and author biography of no more than 200 words, an academic resume, transcript, headshot, and educator recommendation.

Legal U.S. or D.C. residents age 14 or older enrolled at least half-time in high school, a degree program, or technical training, or parents of such students, may submit one online entry.
