This Charles W. Smith, Jr. and Mary B. Smith Scholarship benefits entering freshmen accepted into the JMU Honors College who demonstrate financial need and intend to pursue a degree in the College of Education. Preference goes to students admitted through Early Action. The award renews while the student remains in good standing within the Honors College, continues enrollment in the College of Education, and continues to meet the financial need requirement verified by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Honors College and College of Education leadership coordinate recipient selection from the Early Action applicant pool.
