About this scholarship

Qualified Ph.D. candidates in Archaeology at the University of British Columbia may qualify. The fellowship is $17,000. Preference goes to candidates whose thesis topic concerns the archaeology and cultural history of the Pacific Northwest. Remaining annual income may fund a second fellowship for a Ph.D. candidate working on Old or New World prehistory.

There is no separate application. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Anthropology in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Charles E. Borden endowed the fellowship.
