About this scholarship
Georgia high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a Georgia college, show a record of academic excellence and leadership, and obtain sponsorship from a local bank may apply for this merit-based award.
Four recipients receive $1,000 each per year.
Gather an essay response, leadership and extracurricular record, teacher recommendations, and official transcripts, then submit your application to your sponsoring bank and the Community Bankers Association of Georgia before the deadline.
This scholarship honors Julian and Jan Hester, a father and daughter pair involved in community banking in Georgia.

- Teacher qualification/recommendation sheet completed by a math, science, or humanities teacher and mailed directly to the sponsoring bank
- Official high school transcript
- SAT and/or ACT score printout if not included on transcript
- Typed essay
- Must be a Georgia high school senior entering a Georgia university, college, or technical institute (two-year program or more) as a full-time student in the fall semester following graduation
- Must be sponsored by a CBA Member community bank (not required to be a customer)
- Completed application form (student information)
- Candidate's Activity Record (clubs/teams/sports, community activities, work experience, leadership positions, academic achievements and awards)
- Qualifications/recommendation sheet completed by one math, science, or humanities teacher and mailed directly to the bank
- Official high school transcript from the counselor
- Printout of SAT and/or ACT scores (if not included on transcript)
- Essay must be typed and attached to the application
- Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership.
