Caroline M. Hewins Scholarship

Graduate students specializing in library work with children who have earned or are completing a four-year undergraduate degree and are enrolled in or applying to an ALA-accredited library school may apply for the Caroline M. Hewins Scholarship. Preference is given to public-library careers. U.S. residency is not required.

The annual award is $4,000.

Mail-only applications are accepted between July 1 and September 1; the 2026 application PDF is on the Hartford Public Library site. The fund honors Caroline M. Hewins, a pioneer in children's librarianship.
