About this scholarship
U.S. citizens and permanent residents who hold a master's degree or equivalent, or who are working toward a Ph.D. or equivalent, may apply for Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) fellowships for advanced study or research at a Belgian university or institution of higher learning. Knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is optional. Applicants arrange their own registration or affiliation with a Belgian university or research institution.
Fellowships provide up to $34,000 and include health insurance in Belgium. Graduate Study Fellowships and Research Fellowships are each non-renewable grants for one year.
Applicants submit a completed application form, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a brief autobiographical statement, a statement of purpose, and three letters of recommendation.
