About this scholarship
Students enrolled in an ABFSE-accredited funeral service or mortuary science program who have completed at least one term and have at least one term remaining after the award date may apply. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, F-1 visa holders, and DACA students are eligible.
Scholarships are generally $1,500 to $2,500 for an academic year and are applied directly to tuition after enrollment is certified. The number of recipients varies each cycle.
Submit the online application and supporting documents postmarked by September 1. Students may apply once per calendar year.
The American Board of Funeral Service Education has awarded funeral service scholarships since the 1960s.

- Proof of Enrollment: letter from Program Director on ABFSE-accredited school letterhead
- Two letters of recommendation (one from employer/community leader/non-family member; one from a faculty member at an ABFSE-accredited school)
- Official transcript from funeral service/mortuary science program (min. 5 funeral service courses or 15 semester credit hours completed)
- Completed online application form + printed email confirmation
- Materials postmarked by March 1 or September 1
- Students may apply once per calendar year.
- Scholarship is applied directly to tuition after enrollment certification.
