About this scholarship
Australian, Indigenous Australian, American, and Indigenous American students pursuing full-time graduate study (master's, Ph.D., or postdoctoral research) at an accredited institution in the other country may apply through the Graduate Education Fund.
Awards up to $40,000 for one year may cover tuition, travel, living expenses, and related costs. Programs must have at least one year remaining.
Two application rounds run annually: Australia to USA (January 1 through March 31) and USA to Australia (August 1 through September 30). Finalists may interview.

- Three letters of recommendation
- Detailed annual budget
- Documentation of other awards applied for during the same period
- Bio photograph
- One-minute bio video
- Bio photograph upload (high resolution, min 1 MB; used for marketing, not seen by reviewers)
- 1-minute bio video describing your work to a varied audience (hidden from review panel)
- Copy of passport or Australian Permanent Residence proof
- Offer/acceptance letter from the US host university or supervisor
- Undergraduate transcript (required) and graduate transcript (if applicable)
- Resume limited to 1 page
- List of top 10 prizes/distinctions/awards
- List of top 10 publications/papers
- Three letters of recommendation (name + email for each)
- Detailed annual budget as PDF (amount requested from the Association cannot exceed US$40,000)
- Documentation of other awards applied for during the same period
- Finalists may interview.
- Submit the required executive summary, career-plans/financial-need essay, statement of purpose, references statement, and expenses response.
