About this scholarship
Open to a UBC Vancouver graduate student whose research focuses on social justice and racial or economic inequality, or a critical analysis of society and its socio-economic structures.
A $1,250 award endowed in memory of Amanda Araba Ocran supports this research. At the time of her death in 1998, Amanda Ocran was a UBC Ph.D. candidate active in the Graduate Student Society and student advocacy groups, with research on the exploitation of immigrant home workers as cheap labour.
Awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
