About this scholarship
The Alan and Jane Handler Scholarship is the University of Rochester's premier need-based award for highly qualified first-year students with substantial financial need who have overcome significant obstacles. All domestic and international first-year applicants are reviewed automatically when they submit an admission application and complete the CSS Profile and FAFSA by the stated financial aid deadlines. Finalists participate in a mandatory virtual interview in mid-February. Recipients receive complete financial support covering tuition, fees, housing, food, books, personal expenses, and transportation for up to eight semesters, plus mentoring and up to $5,000 in enrichment funding.
