About this scholarship

Students at UBC Vancouver entering fourth year who have demonstrated a particular interest in and enthusiasm for hardrock geology are eligible for this $2,850 award. Candidates have contributed to the overall benefit of fellow students through their personal qualities and participated in activities such as those of the G.M. Dawson Club. Preference is given to candidates demonstrating financial need, and academic excellence is not a prerequisite.

There is no student application; the award is made on the recommendation of the department.

The award was established by classmates, friends, and family in tribute to Aaron Craig Nicholls, who graduated in Geology from UBC in April 1987 and died in June of the same year while working in northern B.C.
