Glasgow School of Art portfolio statement
Glasgow School of Art assesses a digital portfolio and a portfolio statement after the UCAS application. The statement is a place to expand on a chosen project, explain interests and influences, and connect the work to the GSA programme. It must differ from the UCAS personal statement. Product Design Engineering follows a different application route through the University of Glasgow.

What to prepare

How to approach the writing
- Use the portfolio statement to add context to visible work; do not reuse your UCAS personal statement.
- Check the programme's own application guidelines for portfolio content, then upload through the GSA site after receiving its invitation.
Before you submit
GSA's public undergraduate page still names January 2026 UCAS and portfolio deadlines. Confirm the 2027 dates in its updated guidance and invitation email. The 3,000-character cap is a character limit, not a 3,000-word allowance; Product Design Engineering applicants use a different route.
