Cambridge personal statements
Cambridge applicants write the three-part UCAS personal statement and complete My Cambridge Application. The Cambridge form offers an optional additional personal statement.
Writing format
UCAS statement plus My Cambridge Application
What to prepare
- 1Use UCAS to explain your subject interest and preparation across all your university choices.
- 2Consider the optional Cambridge statement only when it adds academic information specific to your Cambridge course.
- 3Follow My Cambridge Application instructions for any documents or contextual information your course requires.
How to approach the writing
- Avoid copying the same material into both statements. The extra space is useful only if it adds something substantive.
- Build the academic case around reading, projects, or questions you can discuss in an interview.
Before you submit
For 2027 entry, Cambridge says it will not review extra documents uploaded to UCAS. Submit required materials through My Cambridge Application or your college.
