Queens' College Cambridge History written work
Applicants for History at Queens' College Cambridge submit two essays from their current courses, preferably in a subject relevant to History. Drafts of extended coursework can qualify, and one timed essay is helpful. These must be original work already written for school, not new supplemental essays composed for Cambridge; other Cambridge colleges set their own requirements.

Two existing teacher-marked course essays, usually 1,000–3,000 words each
What to prepare
- 1Select two essays that show how you use evidence and develop an interpretation rather than choosing only the highest marks.
- 2Keep the teacher's marking and comments visible, and include source material if an essay analyzes supplied sources.
- 3Prepare to discuss the reasoning, evidence, and limitations of your original work if an interviewer asks about it.
How to approach the writing
- Do not rewrite or correct the essays for Cambridge; Queens' explicitly requires the original school work.
- Attach the Cambridge cover sheet to each submission and use the upload link Queens' sends to applicants.
Before you submit
Queens' lists November 4, 2026 at 6 p.m. UK time for 2027 written work. Its usual 1,000–3,000-word range applies when a course has no more specific limit; confirm the History instructions and document format before uploading.
