Windsor Social Work personal statement for professional years
Windsor assesses a personal statement when applicants seek admission to the professional years of its undergraduate BSW. Faculty look for clear writing, an understanding of social work, motivation for entering the profession, and experiences that shaped that interest. This is a later-stage BSW application, not an essay for every first-year applicant.

What to prepare
- 1Explain your understanding of social work through a real service, volunteer, study, or community experience.
- 2Describe what you did and learned from that experience, then connect it to your motivation for professional social work study.
- 3Show how your perspective has developed without repeating the separate work and volunteer experience form.
How to approach the writing
- Choose the correct internal or external and transfer application package; each applicant group has its own route.
- Use the package's live personal-statement instructions for any limit or questions, since the public admissions page does not publish a universal word count.
Before you submit
Windsor says the Fall 2027 intake opens October 1 and closes December 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Upload the required supplemental documents together as one PDF through UWinsite. Applicants to the professional years must meet the program's course and grade prerequisites; the two-year degree-completion route has different eligibility.
