Windsor Film Production MFA letter of intent
Windsor asks Film Production MFA applicants for a letter explaining their film practice, why they want this MFA, and the practice-based research they hope to pursue. The separate portfolio contains three video samples with the exact excerpts for review identified. The programme also asks for a CV and three recommendations.

What to prepare
- 1Describe a film-making choice from your recent work that reveals your practice and the questions you keep pursuing.
- 2Explain why Windsor's practice-based MFA is useful for the next stage of that work.
- 3State a focused research direction: what you want to investigate, develop, or better understand through making films.
How to approach the writing
- Use the 500 words for the through-line between past work and future inquiry; leave chronology and credits to the CV.
- Make the letter and the three selected video excerpts reinforce each other without repeating a shot-by-shot description.
Before you submit
Windsor says 2027–28 applications opened September 15, 2026 and names January 15, 2027 for financial-award consideration. Upload one PDF portfolio with embedded video links and identified excerpts, each about one minute. Confirm the live UWinsite checklist before submitting.
