VIU Visual Art letter of intent
VIU lists a letter of intent and electronic portfolio for Fall 2027 Visual Art BA applicants. The program offers both a major and a minor. Its current intake table says interviews are waived, although an older admission paragraph on the same page still describes a portfolio interview.

- 2Point to one or two pieces in your portfolio and describe a decision, material, or question behind them.
- 3If you are considering the minor rather than the major, explain how visual art would connect with your other intended field of study.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the letter separate from the portfolio submission. VIU does not publish a word limit or a fixed prompt for the Fall 2027 letter.
- Check the live portfolio instructions before choosing and labeling work; the current intake table says no interview is required.
Before you submit
VIU lists March 31, 2027 as the domestic application close and July 31, 2027 for the portfolio and letter, but says international late applications may be accepted.
