UWinnipeg World Leaders scholarship personal statement
The University of Winnipeg's President's Scholarship for World Leaders asks first-time international students for a personal statement separate from the undergraduate admission application. The statement explains leadership qualities, extracurricular or volunteer involvement, and academic goals. Applicants also provide a résumé and two references who can speak to their activities.

UWinnipeg says award statements must be in the student's own voice. Do not use AI to create or embellish the statement; acknowledge permitted functional editing such as grammar or translation in the submitted document.
What to prepare
- 1Choose a leadership example with a clear responsibility, action, and effect on other people rather than only naming a title.
- 2Explain what you did in extracurricular or volunteer work and how it connects to the goals you intend to pursue at Winnipeg.
- 3Keep the account consistent with your résumé and references; the statement is where you explain the meaning of those experiences.

- Begin the admission application early enough to receive a UWinnipeg student number before completing the separate award form.
- Prepare the statement, chronological résumé, and two reference letters together; the form accepts one combined PDF and does not review incomplete packages.

The published form lists October 1, 2026 for winter 2027 undergraduate entry; older spring and fall 2026 choices are closed. Confirm that your intended division and term are available before applying. UWinnipeg permits functional AI editing only when acknowledged, and requires the story and statement to remain your own.
