TRU Social Work admission statement
TRU admits students to its BSW at Year 3 after transferable post-secondary study. What to prepare
- 1For the community issue, choose one issue you understand through experience or study, use the Canadian Association of Social Workers' Code of Ethics, and explain one relevant policy's effect.
- 2For truth and reconciliation, write from your actual social location and engagement, including what you still need to learn. Do not claim relationships or activities you have not had.
- 3For the selected Call to Action or Call for Justice, explain its relevance to your intended social-work practice and identify a specific gap in your preparation that TRU study could address.
How to approach the writing
- Complete the university application before the separate statement so TRU can attach the form to your application file.
- Keep your name out of the statement answers because assessors evaluate them anonymously; provide the TRU student number in the form field as instructed.
Before you submit
TRU says Fall 2027 applications open October 1, 2026, with a January 15 early deadline and acceptance through February 28 only if seats remain. Its general BSW FAQ still says March 31, so use the 2027 admissions page and confirm the live deadline with TRU. Reopen the statement linked there before submitting in case the questions or word limits change.
