Trent M.Ed. plan of study and personal statement
Trent's Master of Education uses different writing for its streams. Thesis and research-project applicants provide a one- to two-page plan of study about a research interest and M.Ed. objectives. Course-based applicants instead explain their motives and connect professional and personal experience with learning goals in a personal statement. All routes list a separate writing sample. This M.Ed. is not an Ontario teaching credential.

What to prepare
- 1For a thesis or research-project plan, explain the education question you want to pursue, why it matters to you, and how it fits your proposed study.
- 2For the course-based statement, connect work, community, or study experience to the learning goals and courses that draw you to the M.Ed.
- 3Choose an existing writing sample that shows your own analytical work; Trent lists essays, reports, articles, and professional work samples as possible formats.
How to approach the writing
- Decide which stream's writing guidance applies before drafting. Trent says the stream may be changed after admission, but the application describes different materials for research and course routes.
- Use the current application fields to confirm the statement limit and writing-sample length; the admissions page says about 20 pages or less, while the program FAQ suggests 6–15 pages if possible.
Before you submit
Trent's public admissions page still shows February 1, 2026 deadlines marked closed. Do not reuse those dates for 2027; confirm the next intake and document deadline before applying. Trent explicitly says generative AI writing in admissions materials is academic dishonesty, so write the statement and sample yourself.
