U of T Scarborough Music Industry and Technology artist statements
Scarborough's Music Industry and Technology supplement asks about musical background, goals, and reasons for choosing the program. Its media portfolio requires links to three performances or other work samples, each with a short artist statement identifying the work, the applicant's role, and why it demonstrates potential. Original songs are not required, and there is no performance audition for entry.

U of T Scarborough says the SAF must be the applicant's own work and explicitly prohibits generative AI such as ChatGPT from producing responses.
What to prepare
- 1For each of three samples, state what the audience will hear or see and what you personally created, performed, arranged, or produced.
- 2Explain why that sample reveals a skill or direction relevant to music industry and technology, rather than repeating the same claim three times.
- 3Describe a concrete musical experience and connect it to your goals for studying music, business, or technology.
How to approach the writing
- Check that all three media links work for a reviewer without needing a private login, and pair each with its own accurate statement.
- Use the live SAF for its actual questions and limits; the public admissions page describes topics but does not publish a universal essay prompt.
Before you submit
Scarborough lists January 15, 2027 for the university application. The SAF deadline is personalized in JOIN U of T after applying, so confirm it there and submit the three linked samples with the form.
