U of T Scarborough International Development Studies SAF
Scarborough requires a Supplementary Application Form for International Development Studies co-op. Its published sections cover extracurricular learning or leadership, lived experience, and why the applicant wants to study international development, including experiences that sparked that interest. The program also values curiosity about the world, social justice, reflection on privilege and systems, and clear writing. An interview may follow the form.

Academic integrity
U of T Scarborough says the SAF must be the applicant's own work and explicitly prohibits generative AI such as ChatGPT from producing responses.
What to prepare
- 1Choose an activity where you learned or led, and describe what changed because of your work rather than listing memberships.
- 2Explain an experience that led you to question a social or global issue, including what you still need to learn.
- 3Connect your reason for studying international development to the program's co-op focus without claiming expertise you have not earned.
How to approach the writing
- Use the separate sections of the live SAF for distinct examples; keep your account of lived experience in your own words.
- Save responses in the JOIN U of T portal and review them before final submission, which cannot be edited afterward.
Before you submit
U of T Scarborough lists January 15, 2027 for the university application. Your SAF deadline appears in JOIN U of T after you apply and depends on your application timing; check that personal deadline instead of assuming one universal date.
