U of T Kinesiology Statement of Interest
Every Bachelor of Kinesiology applicant must complete a Statement of Interest after applying. The faculty uses it to learn about an applicant's abilities, character, and potential for leadership in physical activity. The form also asks for the name and contact information of someone outside the applicant's family who can provide a reference. U of T has not published the current form's exact questions on its public admissions page.

What to prepare
- 1Choose a specific experience in sport, movement, teaching, health, or community activity that shows what you did and learned.
- 2Explain a decision or responsibility you took and how it shaped your interest in studying kinesiology, instead of listing activities alone.
- 3Ask a non-family referee who knows your abilities and character whether they are willing to be listed, then check their contact details.
How to approach the writing
- Open the Statement of Interest instructions sent after the faculty receives your application; answer the live questions and limits rather than assuming a general personal essay.
- Keep your examples consistent with your academic and activity record, and leave time to review the referee information before submitting.
Before you submit
U of T lists January 15, 2027 for the application and February 1 for the Statement of Interest. The faculty says it will not consider an application without the completed statement; confirm the exact form and instructions in your applicant account.
